Echoendoscopy allows direct visualisation of the interior of the oesophagus, stomach, duodenum, rectum and sigma, as well as the surrounding structures: mediastinum, pancreatic region, biliary tract and pelvic cavity.
This endoscopic device has a built-in ultrasound scanner at the tip, allowing normal endoscopic vision and ultrasound vision of the entire environment, which aids and facilitates diagnosis.
Indications for FNA Puncture
When necessary, Echoendoscopy examination is complemented by fine needle aspiration (FNA), a minimally invasive test that allows tissue samples to be obtained to determine their origin or possible malignancy, avoiding the need for open biopsies.
